Instructions
For this assignment, you will write on a Word document a summary
paragraph of 10-12 well structured and grammatically correct sentences of the
article "The Temin Effect." Use what you have learned from Shaun and
the sample summary.
Summary:
David Epstein’s “The Temin
Effect” article, talks about the interview with the biologist Howard Temin conducted
by one of the M.G. many years ago. In this article, he talks about Howard Temin’s
work on the discovery of “reverse transcriptase-the class of enzymes of capable
of creating DNA from a RNA template” which won him a Nobel Prize and made him
an unforgettable figure. David then talks about Howard’s high school days in
which his valedictory address was about the hydrogen bomb and how his bar mitzvah
money was donated to a refugee camp as he was raised by activist parents in Philadelphia.
Further in this article, David also talks about his interview in which he spent
as much time, brilliantly, in the larger world of ideas as he did talking about
his own work in molecular biology.
